The football club Queens Park Rangers is not having the best of seasons so far, but they are still in contention for promotion to the Premier League. Their recent victory against Burnley has raised hopes that their season will turn around soon.

Queens Park Rangers is a football club based in London. The owner of the team is Tony Fernandes.

Jack ColbackThe previous goal for Forest was scored by Jack Colback in a 3-1 home loss to Aston Villa.

Nottingham Forest earned a draw against Queens Park Rangers at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium as Jack Colback scored his first league goal since March 2019.

After Scotland international Lyndon Dykes’ header at the conclusion of a first half in which they lost Sam McCallum and Jordy de Wijs to injury, Rangers seemed set to win.

After the interval, Dykes had a chance to make it a hat-trick, but Brice Samba closed down the space to deny him a one-on-one opportunity, and Djed Spence made a wonderful challenge as the striker prepared to fire.

When QPR failed to clear with time running out, Forest were rewarded for their perseverance when Colback’s ferocious left-footed attempt reached the goal thanks to a deflection from Jimmy Dunne.

Rangers averted a repeat of their previous 22 Friday night losses by moving up to fifth position in the standings despite being denied their seventh victory of the season, while Forest remained in 15th place.

Before kick-off, there was a minute of applause, followed by a minute of silence and the playing of the Last Post by Sergeant Warren Ringham in QPR’s penultimate home game before Remembrance Day.

Forest nearly went ahead in the opening 15 seconds of the game when the home defence was caught offside and Joe Lolley supplied Brennan Johnson, who fired well wide.

When Johnson went down under a tackle from Yoann Barbet, the referee turned down Forest’s penalty demands, but the visitors went near again when Lolley’s 20-yard drive forced a leaping save from Seny Dieng.

Albert Adomah then had to hack the ball away as Johnson delivered a dangerous pass across the six-yard box, but it was at the other end where he created space in the area for a dinked cross and Dykes peeled away from his opponent Max Lowe before heading in.

Lyndon Dykes scores for QPRLyndon Dykes has already scored ten goals for QPR and four for Scotland this season.

At the hour mark, Forest manager Steve Cooper introduced Alex Mighten and Lyle Taylor, and Lolley flashed another left-footed shot just past the far post before being replaced by Philip Zinckernagel, who forced Dieng to tip over with a thunderous effort.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke was watching Dykes, and he had opportunities to settle the game but was thwarted by a tenacious Forest defense.

As the game entered stoppage time, the visitors pushed forward in numbers, and Colback’s strike ensured they avoided a second straight loss after losing 4-0 at home to Fulham last Sunday.

Mark Warburton, QPR’s manager, said London 94.9:

“In the second half, we needed to keep our shape and prevent them from playing forward, which I believe we accomplished; I believe we neutralized their danger.”

“All night, we had first touch with their set-pieces, and we looked comfortable against a very talented Forest team.”

“We had a number of opportunities to finish it off and go two up, but we were wasteful in front of goal, and we have to accept that.”

“It’s horrible to have a deflection like that – I saw the video from behind the goal and it went right into Seny’s (Dieng) arms.”

Steve Cooper, Forest’s head coach, told Radio Nottingham:

“It would have been really difficult if we had lost the game – one, because of the role we played; two, because of the [penalty] judgment in the first half; and three, because we never gave up believing.”

“QPR is a difficult game to prepare for since their midfield formation changes from time to time, from a diamond to a box, which is difficult to cope with tactically.”

“We didn’t want to drop [back] and allow them take the game to us; instead, we wanted to do the opposite, which we accomplished, as seen by how we began the game.”

“It was a terrific game, and I’m delighted we got something out of it – but I have mixed emotions about it since I thought we should have gotten three points.”
