The BBC has defended its portrayal of mental illness after viewers criticised the show Gogglebox for ‘traumatising’ them. The episode caused controversy when sufferers were shown crying and shouting, with one viewer sending an email to complain about it to head of TV content at the corporation.

The “gogglebox uk” is a British television programme that has been criticised by viewers for the way it handled an episode. The show producers have stated that they will be addressing the complaints.

After seeing ‘traumatizing’ images on Gogglebox, fans are requesting the program’s creators to stop portraying animals being slaughtered on the show.

The stars of the Channel 4 show were seen chasing and killing a newborn kangaroo on Friday’s edition of the popular family show.

Ellie and Izzi, two veteran Gogglebox stars from Leeds, yelled at the TV as they saw it unfold.

‘Oh my, the baby’s about to fall out, don’t fall out!’ screamed Izzi. ‘Oh my God, go back for it!’ said her sister Ellie.

Fans reacted their outrage on Twitter, with some describing themselves as “traumatized” and appealing with the show’s executives to stop portraying images like these.

‘We didn’t need to watch the kangaroo bit,’ one stunned spectator stated.

Is anybody else still traumatized by the newborn kangaroo that fell from its mother’s pouch on #Gogglebox?

Nowadays, Gogglebox is a complete disaster. I remember when it was amusing and you would giggle while watching it. Now it’s just politics and animals dying!

For the last eight years, the reality program has been a fan favorite (Picture: Channel 4)

Viewers have theorized in the past that Gogglebox performers get paid in takeout since they seemed to be eating them all the time (especially in earlier seasons).

They do, however, get a stipend, with each family receiving £1,500 a month, according to The Sun.

For the program, the Gogglebox families must watch 12 hours of television every week.

This is divided into two six-hour stints, enabling most participants to continue working throughout the shooting.

Channel 4 has further information.

Gogglebox has become a popular mainstay of British television in only eight years, as shown by an extraordinary increase in watching rates during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Gogglebox airs on Channel 4 on Fridays at 9 p.m.
