Minecraft is a sandbox video game created and designed by Swedish programmer Markus “Notch” Persson, and later fully developed and published by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and combat.
What is Better Railrods?
This mod was ported from the old model Railroads by MaggiCraft. This old version of the mod had some major issues with items that are supposed to be mine-able(ie iron ore). They were not spawning naturally in high numbers only allowing for mining at X levels. This mod was made to fix that issue and reintroduce this old but great mod into newer versions of Minecraft.
Features:
This mod adds in the ability to mine ores at a much higher level than previously allowed by giving you an alternative way of mining them instead of using pickaxes. The ores will now have a random multiplier applied to them with a minimum limit of 2 and a maximum limit of 8.
How does this mod Work?
Ore blocks will now drop as items instead of being mined. The ore drops will be about 1/4th the size of its respective ore block. For example, iron ore will now drop as an iron ingot about the size of a piece of coal instead of a full block. This mod will allow you to mine iron ore at level 12 rather than mining full blocks at level 2.
This does not remove the need for a pickaxe, it only makes it easier to mine. You can use this mod in conjunction with traditional pickaxes to mine the ores at their full potential.
The multiplier is applied by a command block with a simple command in it: “/give @p command_block”. Copy and paste that into chat then press enter and you will get a command block. Place the command block down where you want it and turn it on (by powering it with a button, lever, redstone lamp, etc). When you are all set, right click the block and enter the command “/give @p minecraft:command_block”. Place this new command block down wherever you want. This is now your ore multiplier.
Next place an ore of your choice on top of it followed by another command block. This is where you will be putting the command that mines the ore.
The command is: “/give @p minecraft:iron_ingot 5” or whatever amount of ingots you would like to give when used on a full ore block. In this case it was set to five iron ingots. The number after the “give” command is the number of the item you will receive.
Now, every time that ore block gets mined it will drop an ingot of that ore instead of a whole block. Be careful though as this command has to be run on the same frequency as the ore multiplier otherwise it won’t work together. To fix this just right click the command block with a redstone and hook up each one to a lever.
What versions of Minecraft are compatible?
This mod is only for versions 1.7 or higher as it uses the new ore drop system that was added in those versions. Any older version will not work with this mod.
Why does the command block say “don’t place on soul sand”?
Soul sand can cause problems with blocks that change items in any way. This includes ore blocks dropping items instead of whole blocks and this command block mine-multiplier setup. You will not be able to fix it so just don’t use it on soul sand.
Can you add in X?
I will look into the request when time allows, but I cannot promise anything. I am fairly busy usually and usually do not have much time to work on mods that are not my own.
