We’ve seen a number of “one-hit wonder” quarterbacks in recent years, but what about those who have been around for a while and still haven’t gotten the job done? Patrick Mahomes has looked like he could be one of these players. After all, it feels as though we’re just getting started with him. We’ll learn more as time goes on if he can crack this code or not.,
The “when was patrick mahomes born” is a question that has been asked for a while. Patrick Mahomes could be walking a path similar to Aaron Rodgers, who also started out as a backup before becoming the Packers’ starter.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — When Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes watches Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers play, he sees one of the NFL’s all-time great passers.
In terms of his own career, he views it as a cautionary story. Rodgers, like Mahomes, won a Super Bowl early in his career but hasn’t been able to win another since.
“In this sport, it’s not about one man,” Mahomes remarked on Wednesday. “It’s about working together as a team.” I believe Tom Brady deceives everyone because he’s won so many Super Bowls, but winning Super Bowls in this league is difficult. It’s the pinnacle of excellence.
“Every year, everyone improves in some way. Everyone is bringing in fresh men who are desperate to get their hands on it. Aaron is the greatest of the best and has been a part of many great football teams, but you have to have things go your way, which I understand. This season has shown that it is not going to be a typical season where you come in and win every game. To get to the top, you have to fight through hardship.”
Rodgers was in a similar situation to Mahomes a decade ago. In the winter of 2011, he was 27 years old when he led the Packers to a Super Bowl victory. Rodgers was generally expected to win many more championships at the time. Even Rodgers expressed his desire to go for more the day after the Packers’ Super Bowl win.
“I’m always looking for new challenges,” he said at the time. “The difficulty is to keep doing it over and over again. So, now that we’ve acquired one, what do we do? Let’s go find another.”
Since then, Rodgers and the Packers haven’t made it back to the Super Bowl.
When the Chiefs play the Packers at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, Mahomes and Rodgers will not have their first on-field meeting (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox). Rodgers will sit out the game after testing positive for COVID-19 this week.
• Jets want to put an end to their prime-time woes • Colts’ RB is the greatest since Edgerrin James Love, the Packers’ quarterback, gets his shot. • Why Mahomes could be able to follow in Rodgers’ footsteps After the Gilmore deal, the Pats are in an awkward position.
Before their offensive line disintegrated in the Super Bowl defeat last year, the Chiefs seemed to be on their way to a second consecutive title. They improved their offensive line throughout the summer, but their defense has deteriorated to become one of the worst in the NFL, and the Chiefs are now 4-4. They don’t look to be real Super Bowl candidates, and instead appear to be in desperate need of a personnel overhaul, especially on defense.
In the offseason, Veach and the Chiefs will no sure work on it, but something else will eventually come up. It’s just the way the NFL works.
That’s why, despite what occurred with Rodgers and the Packers, it suddenly seems more likely that Mahomes will be a one-and-done quarterback when it comes to Super Bowl victories.
“He’s so young,” Manning remarked of Mahomes, who is 26 years old. “He’s got a long way to go.” He’ll continue to develop as a player as he learns and improves. I envision him having a good season and reaching the playoffs. But you never know when it’ll be their year, when you’ll have something unique and the guys around you will come up in key situations and help you win it.
“He has a bright future ahead of him. I expect him to win more Super Bowls in the future, but you never know. It’s still about the team and everything coming together, no matter how amazing he is. I view him as one of those players that is always in the playoffs, but has little control over what happens after that. It’s all about bringing the team together and making it happen.”
