“I think people don’t really understand me” is a quote that was said by someone who is struggling with their identity. They feel like they are on their own and no one understands what they are going through.
Carmelo Anthony is one of the all-time great basketball players. He established himself as one of the game’s most gifted scorers during his heyday, and he is currently enjoying late-career success with the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, just a few years ago, it seemed that no one believed in him. Melo has responded by taking a direct attack at those who questioned his skills.

From 2003-04 to 2016-17, Anthony was a fantastic player for the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. He was named to 10 All-Star teams and six All-NBA teams, and he led the league in scoring in 2012-13, averaging 28.9 points per game.
His career, however, took a drastic turn in 2017 when he was dealt to the Oklahoma City Thunder by the Knicks.
He was chastised before the season even started for giggling at the prospect of coming off the bench.
“Who am I?” According to CBS Sports, he remarked, “I don’t know where it originated or where that came from.” “Hey P (Paul George), they told me I had to come off the bench,” he remarked.
Melo subsequently only scored 16.2 points per game and shot a career-low 40.4 percent from the field that season, leading to his departure from OKC at the end of the season. The next season, Anthony joined his buddy Chris Paul on the Houston Rockets, but after just 10 games, Houston let him free as well.
According to The Undefeated, he remarked of coming off the bench before the 2018-19 season with Houston, “I know how to play this kind of basketball.” “It’s something I’ve been doing for a long time.” I’ll accept the part when I’m ready. Only I know when it’s the perfect time for me to step into that position. In a circumstance when I still know my skills and what I can accomplish, I’m not going to do that. And, at the end of the day, the people who really count are aware of my strengths and what I am still capable of.”
However, Anthony was left without a team for nearly a year. Some individuals were scared off by his (apparent) unwillingness to come off the bench, and no one wanted to take a risk on him.
However, in late 2019, he was given a second chance by a group, and he has since proved all of his critics wrong.
After torching the Rockets in a Lakers triumph, Carmelo Anthony fired a direct blow at his detractors.
In 2019, Anthony joined with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he had two successful seasons. He even spent the most of his second season in Portland on the bench, shooting a career-high 40.9 percent from 3-point range.
Melo then joined the Lakers in the summer to link up with LeBron James, and he has been instrumental for a championship-bound squad so far.
Anthony is averaging 16.7 points per game through seven games, the most he’s put up since his last season with the Knicks, and he’s shooting a new career-high 52.2 percent from 3-point range to go along with a career-best 50 percent from the field.
On Oct. 31, the Lakers defeated the Rockets, a club he had only played with for ten games, 95-85, with the Syracuse product leading all players in scoring with 23 points.
He then launched a straight shot at his detractors (maybe on purpose, perhaps not).
According to ESPN, Anthony said, “I believe people don’t truly understand me.” “I believe there is a misperception about myself and my ability to adjust to different circumstances out there.” But, guy, I can quickly adjust to any situation.”
Whether or not you agree with how he handled his possible benching in the past, Anthony has established himself as one of the top second-string players in the league, proving that he can succeed in any capacity.
His teammates are well aware of his importance.
The Lakers are well aware of the importance of Melo to their success.
Carmelo Anthony is doing a lot more for the Lakers than simply providing a scoring punch off the bench. In the victory against the Rockets, he got four blocks and two steals in a game for the first time since his rookie season.
According to ESPN, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel commented, “It was wonderful.” “Forget about the thefts, blocks, and strips,” he says. He has a knack for working with his hands. He is, nevertheless, in the proper posture. When you see him on video heading into this year, you can tell he’s putting in the work. On that side of the ball, he works hard.”
But Anthony’s offensive brilliance will be the area where he can truly help the Lakers win a championship, and LeBron James is well aware of how important he has been to the club on that end of the floor so far.
“When it comes to efficiency and what he’s doing right now, we’re just trying to break down the defense and he’s finding himself,” James told ESPN. “Either his guy is defending him and abandoning him or he’s in a fantastic rhythm.” “All he does is take his shots and knock them down.”
