This is a discovery on how the Blast Furnace’s smelting process works as it has been changed from RS2. The article aims to help those who have been misinformed so far and give those who have not tried out this method an idea of what they are getting into.

Requirements:

Enough coal to get you from 91% – 100% on the progress bar which is 14,840 coal assuming no furnace management.

14,840 coal = 275 full inventory of coal requiring 53 trips.

Things needed to do before performing Blast Furnace Bug

  1. Get a friend who has a high smithing level and has done the quest before.
  2. If you are doing this on your own, withdraw 27,000+ coins from the bank as you will not have access to the Blast Furnace during or after performing the bug because of its price tag of 500k . Without your friend’s high smithing level, you’ll find it almost impossible to do this bug.
  3. Pick up two steel bars and equip a hammer in the tool belt.
  4. Bank everything else including 1 inventory of coal, your hatchet, pickaxe, etc. You should have no other items on you besides the ones mentioned above excluding food/armour/etc which you’ll probably need for combat training.
  5. . Have full run energy and be prepared to click and work fast.
  6. . Have your friend or his/her character near the bank or at the Blast Furnace so you don’t need to run far way for things such as coal. Make sure they are not wasting their energy running back and forth from a bank as it will waste time.
  7. Have your friend start running towards the Blast Furnace as you will need to borrow the Ring of Kinship he or she has in their possession to perform this bug.
  8. If you are on Ardy, find the entrance to the West Ardougne sewers north-west of the market near Aggie the Witch’s house.
  9. If you are on Kethsi, go to the eastern most tip of the island where there is an Agility arena and then travel east towards the clock tower.
  10. If you are on DeviousMUD, head south-east of the Ardougne market and follow this map .
  11. The point is that these three locations are closest to the Blast Furnace. You can try using a Spirit Kyatt, but it is NOT recommended as you may die from taking damage after already running enough and need to repair your kyatt pouch which will require coins.
  12. Once near the Blast Furnace entrance with your friend, use telepathy until he or she accepts and you will both be at the Blast Furnace entrance.
  13. Head inside, and continue running until you see “the walls around you start closing in”. The attackable NPC workers here should not be a problem as they can’t deal much damage to anyone with decent defence and armour (level 40+ recommended).
  14. Once near them, turn on legacy mode. Legacy mode is not needed to perform this bug, but you should always turn it on and off if and when you and your friend get close to the Blast Furnace as there’s a chance of accidentally attacking them.
  15. Turn on prayer and move up one tile until you see two or three small furnace flames in the top left corner.
  16. 1 Have your friend withdraw a steel bar and place it in the top right corner of your screen, where you can see what your friend is doing without moving the camera away from the furnace flames area which should be visible in full view at all times.
  17. . Have him or her click to smelt the steel bar, pick it up and then deposit it.
  18. 15. The second the bar comes out smelted, you should immediately click on the steel bar (1) to smith it (2), place your hammer in your tool belt, withdraw another steel bar and repeat this process until one of two things happen.
