The Nintendo Switch OLED model is nearly here, but it is not without controversy. This is due to the fact that many assumed it was the previously reported Switch Pro. The issue is that the former does not support 4K visuals like the latter, which seems to have been Nintendo’s intention all along.

That hasn’t prevented speculations of a 4K model from circulating online. Indeed, a recent Bloomberg article indicates the existence of such a model, which may be accessible as soon as 2022. However, before anybody can get their hopes up, Nintendo has refuted these allegations once again.

Switch Pro or Switch Negative?

According to the most recent of several Bloomberg stories, at least 11 game firms now have dev kits for a 4K-ready Nintendo Switch model. Employees from these businesses claimed that they were instructed by the Japanese corporation to create games with resolutions higher than that of the standard Switch when questioned. According to Bloomberg, this model may not be ready for sale until late 2022 owing to supply issues with critical components.

Nintendo, on the other hand, denied the existence of such a model in reaction to the news, calling Bloomberg’s story “inaccurate” without explaining how. The firm also reiterated that “any new model other than the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model” was not in the works. Following Bloomberg’s story, the reaction was issued via a tweet.

Nintendo is providing tools to accelerate game creation for a Nintendo Switch with 4K capability, according to a news article published on September 30, 2021(JST). To ensure that our investors and consumers have a clear picture of the situation, we wish to state unequivocally that this story is false. (1/2)

Switch Pro seems to be a long shot.

Nintendo’s reaction isn’t anything to be sniffed at.

In fact, given the present state of the market, the notion of a Switch Pro seems to be out of the question. When it comes to the system in its present form, everything seem to be going well for the Japanese gaming giant. Despite declining hardware and software sales, the firm sold 89 million devices globally in the April-June quarter, according to its financial report.

In terms of upgrades, Nintendo has gotten away with making minor changes to its design in order to create newer, more subtle models. The first updated variant, the Switch Lite, was a stripped-down, solo-device version with an enhanced chipset that was designed for mobile-only gaming. The second model was identical to the basic model, with the exception that it had the same updated chip as the Lite variant.

Finally, the OLED variant would include a dock with a LAN connection and a somewhat bigger OLED screen. It’ll be on sale on October 8 for $50 extra than the standard model. However, none of the models are capable of running games at 4K resolution. Nintendo does not seem to be interested in such a project at the time.

However, this does not rule out the possibility of 4K games on the Switch. The business is no stranger to cloud gaming, which is on the increase. Indeed, several of the console’s games are cloud-based and could be readily modified to broadcast in 4K quality. There’s also the reality that Nintendo has previously acted dishonestly in response to disclosures regarding their system. Only time will tell whether this is true.
