Farming Simulator 22 is coming to stores in November! Here’s what you can expect at launch:
Farming Simulator has been a mainstay of Nordic-style simulators for a long time, and it’s no surprise that the Farming Simulator 22 release date has been repeatedly delayed. In the meantime, Farming Simulator 20 has been released, and these games release each year as ‘Safari’ versions rather than the full versions, and Farming Simulator 22 has been delayed to a later date.
Last week, Farming Simulator game developer Giants Software announced that the game would be launching on October 19th this year. The game will be available on all major platforms including the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the Nintendo Switch, the PC, and also to mobile. This will be the fourth game in the series, the first three of which were released on the PC.
The release date for Farming Simulator 22 has been set for later this winter, so fans of Giants’ Software’s long-running series won’t have to wait long to check out the newest installment’s new features.
Farming Simulator 22’s release date should show a game that leans more towards the realistic side of things while still allowing players flexibility in how they approach farming, with new crops, a slew of equipment brands, the inclusion of manufacturing chains, and other technological upgrades. During a Gamescom hands-on preview session, we got a taste of everything it has to offer; here’s what we discovered.
When will Farming Simulator 22 be released?
The release date for Farming Simulator 22 is November 22, nearly precisely three years after the last iteration’s release on major platforms.
Gameplay of Farming Simulator 22
The emphasis of the game should be obvious from the name, but Farming Simulator 22 has a few new tricks up its sleeve. To begin, it will offer three new crop types: grapes, olives, and sorghum, all of which will need you to plant, care for, and harvest.
According to the inventor, grapes need “special care,” which is why they seem to have their own truck. They also don’t need to be seeded since they’re laid down using Farming Simulator 22’s revamped landscaping tool, which now now allows you to construct fences.
You’ll need to fertilize (or spray) grapes, trim them, and harvest them using specific equipment to maintain them in good condition, and grapes will stay where you planted them as long as you take care of them. Grape vehicles are narrower than others, in order to squeeze between the tighter rows, where each vine is in direct contact.
The Holland Braud 9070L, a new vehicle used to harvest grapes, as well as the Furhman Steyr transport – a new brand in FS22 – that could have its hatch opened on either side without harming the grapes – were both presented at this event. When it came to fertilizing grapes, the Fend Vario 211 V tractor and Hardi Mercury 4000 sprayer came in useful, with the latter’s range precisely covering two rows of vines and increasing output.
Production chains are also included in Farming Simulator 22 and may be placed on your land if desired. Bringing wheat to the mill yields flour, which you may use to create bread or cakes at the bakery. After that, they may be sold to a grocer.
Similarly, the Grape Processing machine may convert grapes into raisins or grape juice. The more money you can make the farther down the manufacturing chain you go, although this isn’t required. According to the developer, it is quite feasible to play the newest installment of the series without interfering with its manufacturing chains.
Farming Simulator 22 has seasonal cycles that affect which activities you may do on each crop. Sleeping advances time by a month, and an in-game calendar keeps track of planting and harvest seasons. You may, however, disable the function if you want to play the game as you did in previous installments.
You’ll discover smaller or larger stones while farming, which may harm your equipment. You may use a tractor like the Zetor Crystal HD 170 to pull a stone picker like the Elho Scorpio and remove them to avoid incurring expensive maintenance expenses.
When Farming Simulator 22 is released, players should notice certain modifications to the sound system. Giants’ Software tried to make noises in FS22 more realistic in response to player comments. You can hear hydraulics better and tell when metal is striking metal.
When smaller tractors struggle to climb a slope, their engines are visibly strained. When you’re inside the cabin, sound propagation is different from when you’re using the third-person viewpoint. In (larger) cars with soundproof cabins, this is more apparent.
Traffic is also quicker and more influenced by vehicles from the real-world areas where its maps are found. The game will start with three maps: a rebuilt version of Erlengrat, and the fictitious town of Haut-Beyleron in France, as well as Elmcreek in the United States.
These maps benefit from a number of technical enhancements, including parallax occlusion mapping, which makes everything – from the ground to other assets you see – appear three-dimensional, an improved particle system that leaves a pleasing trail of dust behind larger harvesters, and better reflections, which make it easier to distinguish between wet and dry areas of land.
When driving in FS22, players may choose between automatic and manual transmission, with the latter supporting keyboards, gamepads, and other external devices. You may use more than 400 equipment and tools from over 100 manufacturers, including John Deere, CLAAS, Case IH, and Massey Ferguson, to handle agricultural, animal husbandry, and forestry on your own or in multiplayer.
